Winless streak hits four
LightweightUFC
May 14, 2022
Patrick lost to Michael Johnson via KO (punches) at 3:22 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 36 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Patrick appeared rusty and out of sorts from the very start, which perhaps shouldn't have come as much of a surprise considering he has fought just three times since October 2018. This performance was especially discouraging. He was consistently picked apart by Johnson on the feet. Offensively, Patrick attempted a bunch of looping, wild strikes. Virtually none of them landed. His best moment of the fight came when he clipped Johnson with a jab, but Patrick's complete inability to defend himself in the stand-up was his ultimate undoing. Patrick turns 39 years of age this coming July and is 0-3 (1NC) in his past four fights. There is no guarantee the UFC runs him back out there.

Patrick is badly in need of a victory, as he's gone winless in his last three fights. His last win came back in 2018 and was followed by a pair of losses and a no contest. He'll be fighting for the first time in 11 months, as a positive COVID-19 test forced him to withdraw from a scheduled October fight against Mason Jones. His opponent, Johnson, has been in even worse form, losing four consecutive fights.

Unable to continue after eye poke
LightweightUFC
June 6, 2021
Patrick fought Mason Jones to a no-contest after an accidental eye poke from Jones halted the action at 2:14 of Round 2 at UFC Vegas 28 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
While nobody likes to see a fight end this way, it's the best result Patrick could have hoped for given how badly he was dominated early in the fight. While Patrick seemed to throw some dangerous shots early, it's simply not a technique that will find success against a polished striker like Jones. Patrick's gas tank started to evaporate, and Jones was able to pick him apart from there. In just over seven minutes of fight time, Jones had been winning the significant striking battle 46 to 10, in addition to recording two takedowns and 3:41 worth of control time. Patrick is now winless in his last three trips to the Octagon, with his last victory coming in February of 2018.
