Scott drops split decision to short notice opponent Carlo Pedersoli
Scott was defeated by Carlo Pedersoli via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Liverpool.
ANALYSIS
Scott failed to adjust his strategy in this fight which led to his decision defeat. The first round was slower paced, with Scott landing good leg kicks. Towards the end of the round he landed a big straight left that dropped the UFC newcomer, Pedersoli. He tried to follow up but Pedersoli was able to get back to his feet and seemed unaffected. The second round was where the problems started for Scott. Pedersoli seemed to have shaken off his Octagon jitters and started to be more relaxed striking. He landed body kick after body kick and had a clear speed advantage over Scott. "Semento" mixed jabs in with the body shots and Scott had no answer as Pedersoli was in and out before Scott could land a shot. Pedersoli got a takedown toward the end of the round to emphasize his dominance in the round. In the third round, "Bear"9 continued to be content to fight from the outside. There was a brief moment where he rushed Pedersoli and started to land shots. That would have been his path to victory as it would have negated the speed of the UFC newcomer. However, Scott reverted back to fighting from the outside, got taken down again, and lost the decision.

Scott's fight against Jack Marshman during UFC London at the O2 Arena on March 17 has been canceled due to concerns that the latter would not be able to safely make weight, Shaun Al-Shatti of MMAFighting.com reports.

He was easily mounted and absorbed many elbows and punches from the bottom before the referee finally called a stop to the fight. Scott did not do well defending on the ground, but it is hard to gauge if his defense was poor or if Hermansson's top game was that good. Hermansson has shown dominance on the ground in past fights, so there is no shame in being beaten on the ground by the Norwegian fighter.
