2024 Projections
Struggles in debut campaign
Forbes started six of 14 games during his 2023 rookie season, recording 38 tackles (35 solo), 11 pass defenses, one interception and one fumble recovery.
ANALYSIS
The 16th overall pick was a Week 1 starter, though he didn't get much playing time in the base defense, instead guarding the perimeter in nickel packages. Forbes got some unwanted attention after Eagles WR A.J. Brown dragged him around the field Week 4, with the rookie then logging just 34 defensive snaps over the next four games combined. In and out of the lineup for much of the year, Forbes handled an every-down role the final two weeks of the season but didn't exactly redeem himself. He also finished dead last in PFF run-defense grade among qualified cornerbacks, perhaps validating some of the pre-draft concerns about his lack of size (166 pounds at the combine) being a problem in the NFL. On the other hand, Forbes ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash after picking off 14 passes (six returned for TDs) in three seasons in the SEC, so a rebound in Year 2 of his professional career wouldn't exactly be a shocking. A new coaching staff in Washington can't hurt, and Forbes' status as a first-round pick should ensure he gets another chance to start.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Gets career off to strong start
Forbes, the Commanders' rookie 16th overall pick, has consistently made his presence felt in the defensive backfield throughout offseason work, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Mississippi product has already shown the same knack for being around the ball that led to him garnering 14 interceptions and 20 pass breakups overall across 35 college games. Keim notes that in addition to getting his hands on numerous passes, Forbes also impressed with his anticipation and his ability to adapt to both outside and inside work while often working with the first team. While the rookie's 166-pound frame is a concern from a durability standpoint, Keim adds that Forbes has consistently adapted thus far by using quickness and length to stand his ground.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Forbes is an unusual cornerback prospect in terms of both size (166 pounds at the 2023 Combine) and collegiate production (14 INTs returned for 390 yards and six TDs in three seasons). Running a 4.35 40 at the combine helped alleviate concerns about the size, and Washington bit with the 16th overall pick in April's draft. Forbes isn't likely to make a ton of tackles but could have value in IDP leagues that slant the scoring more toward takeaways, pass defenses and return touchdowns.
